If I had to summarize the development since 0.6, I would say it's just like Rhythmbox, only better :) From stuff like Ogg support for internet radio, ReplayGain support, and automatic playlists based on rating, what we've done is just generally try to flesh everything out. We are also showcasing GStreamer's cool features like metadata reading.

However, we are set for some major changes in 0.9 (working to 1.0). File monitoring is already done, we have work going on for a SQLite backend, there's code to implement an Icecast source, and with software like HAL, the (still experimental) iPod support should start shaping up. And with luck we'll get metadata writing via GStreamer done :)

Here are the changes since 0.7.2:

Here's a new version in the Rhythmbox development series. We're rapidly approaching 0.8.0. A lot of bugs have been fixed.

I'd like to take this space to explain what's going on with tag editing. The situation is that almost all the work that needs to be done for this inside Rhythmbox is already done. What needs to be done now is for the underlying media library like GStreamer or Xine to support it. GStreamer's actually getting pretty close, and you may even see it in the GStreamer 0.8.0 series.

Thanks to Ben Liblit and the Cooperative Bug Isolation Project , this version of Rhythmbox should be the most stable yet. If you've reported a crasher bug in Bugzilla , it would be nice if you could check whether or not this release fixes it.
